Joan Anderson Photo

Joan Anderson was born in Melbourne and studied at St. Martins School of Art (1959-60). She has had solo shows at Chiltern Gallery London (1961 and 1963) and Argus Gallery Melbourne (1966). Group shows in London include National Society 1962-63-64, Leicester Galleries, Free Painters Gallery, John Whilbley Gallery, Artist International Assn 1958-60, New Art Centre, Royal Institute 1963, Chiltern Gallery 1961-63-64, Whitechapel Gallery 1964. In Ausralia she exhibited at South Yarra Gallery Melbourne, Blaxland Gallery Sydney, The Blake Society exhibition Sydney 1966, Melbourne Contemporary Artists 1965. She also exhibited in France at the Paris Salon 1961-62-63-65 Her paintings depict vividly the landscapes and moods and the way of life of her native country. They are installed with the primative exotic nature of the bush and the creatures that live within it.
