RUDOLPH IHLEE was born in London. He was apprenticed to Feranti as an engineer in 1902, but entered Slade School of Fine Art in 1906-10 where he won many prizes. After two solo shows at the Carfax Gallery in 1912-14, Ihlee worked as an engineering draftsman during World War 1. He became a member of the NEAC. He had a successful at Leicester Galleries in 1921. He then moved to Collioure, in the south of France. He returned to Britain when World War II broke out. He had a solo show at St Peter's College Hall, Peterborough, with Arts Council support in 1951. He also showed in Sleaford in 1968. There was a retrospective of his work in 1978 at Graves Art Gallery in Sheffield and Belgrave Gallery. Vicatoria & Albert Museum, Manchester City Art Gallery and Cecil Higgins Art Gallery, Bedford hold examples of his work.
