LALITHA was born in Ladysmith, Natal, South Africa. In 1983 she studied at South London school under David Jarvis, going on to Camberwell School of Art and crafts, London in 1984 leaving with a first class degree. She studied for a masters at the Royal College of Art. She has exhibitions around the world, including The Africa Centre in Stockholm 1983, Brixton Art Gallery 1984, Artist Against Aparthied in Upper Street Gallery, London and Burght Gallery, Holland 1985, 3rd International Biennial Print Exhibition, at Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taiwan, from December 1987 to 30th March 1988. Her publications include Video, `Exiles' (Shown in the 8th National Festival of Independent Video,) and South African Art and Politics from a Black Perspective -Royal College of Art 1988. She has also been active in teaching and workshops relating to Timal, African and female refuges.
