These paintings in the Chinese style were discovered on a stall in Kentish Town. The quality of them is superb but we do not know the name of the artist. We have therefore designated them as being by 'The London Master' in the same tradition as certain Flemish masters whose names are not known. Anybody seeing these for the first time is struck by the superb line and the subtle and unexpected usage of materials.
