Dion Pears Painting

DION PEARS born 1st August 1929 at Richmond, Surrey.  His grandfather was Charles Pears, the famous marine painter, who was president of the Society of Marine Artists. His first commission was to paint a Renault car famous for its success in the 1950 Monte Carlo Rally. Within months Pears was an established professional painter. Acknowledged as one of the world’s foremost motor artists, he was commissioned by many of motor racing’s celebrities such as Stirling Moss, Jackie Stewart, Jack Brabham, John Surtees and the late Graham Hill. Pears was not purely a painter of things modern and high speed.  Taking a leaf from his grandfather’s book, his work also includes seascapes with barges, square riggers and all manner of ships. His landscapes are also highly sought after by many people, including Penelope Keith. He exhibited frequently at the Royal Society of Marine Artists.  Tragically, he died in 1985, aged 56.
