ROSA SCHAFER was born in Vienna, Austria. She studied at the state academy there. In 1922 she married Ernst Schafer, an art critic and journalist and moved to Munich. Shortly after their first son was born. In 1925 they got divorced. She stayed in Munich till 1938 when she emigrated to England. Whilst in England she started to make a name for herself as a painter and printmaker. She exhibited in Vienna and England with PS, AIA and SEA, of which she was a member, and Leicester Galleries, having a number of solo shows. Member of the Ben Uri Art Society. Pictures by her were also exhibited in the important "KUNST IM EXIL"(Art in Exile) (1986). Pictures from her are quite rare.
