Michael Stokoe Print

MICHAEL STOKOE was born 1933 in London. He studied at St. Martins School of Art from 1953-7. He worked in marketing (Iliffe Press) and advertising. He was a member of the Printmakers' Council. He had shows at the RA, ROI, Young Contemporaries, Arnolfini Gallery in Bristol and the 1967 John Moores Liverpool Exhibition. There was also solo shows at Bear Lane Gallery in Oxford, Drian Galleries and Zella Gallery in 1998. He tought at Ravensbourne College of Design from 1966-96. There are examples of his work in The Victoria and Albert Museum, public galleries in Hull, Leeds, Liverpool and a large number of educational authorities. He worked in different mediums including hard-edge colour filled paintings and prints, Op-Art, wall based constructions and more latterly Fauvist-style works. His prints were published by Alecto, Annely Juda and Collectors guild in America.
